`Tis the Season for ~

COOKIES !
Click photo to enlarge and grab a cookie !.. :o)

The cookies pictured are Spiced Pumpkin Cookies that I baked this afternoon. The recipe came from Countryfolk Keepsakes's blog a couple years ago. They are such a soft delectable treat ! I love soft cookies !

The recipe...

2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg ( I used 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/4 teaspoon ginger )
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 egg

Glaze

3 cups confectioner's sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all the dry ingredients except the sugar and set aside.

In another bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Add pumpkin , egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla to butter mixture and beat till creamy. Add to dry ingredients and mix well.

Drop on ungreased cookie sheet by tablespoonfuls. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool and frost with the glaze.

To make glaze, mix all together.. You may need to add more milk or confectioner's sugar.

You can also frost with a cream cheese icing.. but baked goods with cream cheese should be refrigerated.

Below are a couple photos of my decor in the daylight. My putz village and feather tree. They are displayed on top of my old antique sewing machine.

Instead of making these cookies, I should have been writing out Christmas cards and or wrapping gifts ! That darn sweet tooth won out !

hugs,
Linda

  2. I agree, tis the season for cookies. I baked cookies today as well. I made Snowballs, Russian Tea Cakes, Swedish Balls they are all the same delightful cookie. They are my favorite, I always make these first. On Monday I made 18 jars of Blackberry Jam (2 batches) These will be used in gift baskets for all my sweet friends and family members who have been good this year...
I have really cut back on my Christmas baking since I went to work 5 years ago. Less is better for the waist but not for the sweet tooth.
    Prim Blessings,
    Connie
