Antiques and Aged Ambience......

The best prim booth at the Dairyland Antiques Mall in Reedsville, PA on Rt. 655 off Rt. 322.. Yep, I had permission from the owner to post on my blog.. she is a sweetheart ! These photos were taken yesterday.

Rt. 655 is another one of my favorite roads in PA. Quaint little villages, Amish folk, farms, small shops, quilt shops, etc. Even signs with Bible verses on them ! I love it ! They could use a few of those signs in D. C.

My dh and I took off yesterday for a quick road trip, more or less, but took time to dine at Duffy's Tavern in Boalsburg on the way back from Reedsville and Belleville, Pa.

To find a decent quilt shop with the fabric that I like, I have to travel approximately 95 miles one way. At least there are a couple of antique stores on the way. There is a nice antique mall called Dairyland Antiques in Reedsville on Rt. 655.

This is the view I had when dining ~ looking at the well used fireplace ( they do still use this when it is cold outside ) , the timeworn and scorched floors from a fire in 1934, and the aged brick walls and, also, the stairwell going up to the loft.

There are numerous fireplaces within Duffy's Tavern.

I have posted photos of Duffy's Tavern before a couple of years ago or so on my blog. So, I have tried to take different photos.

The tavern was built in 1819 and was once a stagecoach stop.

It is located in Boalsburg, ( home of Memorial Day ) ,not far from State College on Rt. 45 off of Rt. 322. The food is good ~ soup, sandwiches , salads and wings and things.. tavern type food.

The ambience is priceless ..

Have a great warm spring day !

Blessings and Hugs,
Linda

  1. Lovely photos--we are very familiar with the Boalsburg area. Our older son graduated from Penn State, and we have done the People's Choice Festival for years. The beautiful mountains are the backdrop for our booth. The tavern floors have me breathless--so charming!! Thanks so much for sharing.--Jan

  2. Hi Linda...wow what a beautiful old place.
You know...the looks of everything looks just like the downstairs pub/restaurant at the DOBBIN HOUSE in Gettysburg...same steps, layout, fireplace.

I will have to locate this place! Thanks for the information.

Glad you had a little get away - and we too have to drive for miles to find ANYTHING.

  5. The oak furniture is beautiful. Each year I make the trip to Reedsville to visit the shop & wonder through the flea market looking for a treasure & fresh veggies & fresh fruit. Very close by is Bellville with animal auction & fresh produce. Blessings!
